Way to go Ale!!

Hello my dears! I love having you back here.

Today I will tell you some facts about Fashion Week in Mexico. If you are interested in reading again about the history behind the first fashion week in the world just click here.

Before Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week officially started in Mexico, there were two main fashion events that took place throughout the years: “DFashion” and “Fashion Week Mexico”. In 2011 both shows were combined to create “Mercedes-Benz DFashion México”, which was later on modified to the name everyone knows today: “Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Mexico”. There is a person that anyone who is interested in fashion should know: Beatriz Calles. This amazingly talented woman is the President of this event, and is in charge of making it the best Mexican fashion experience.

This season, the event took place for the eighteenth time from October 13th to 16th. I have had the opportunity of attending the last 3 seasons and definitely it keeps getting better and better. On this occasion the three major most known fashion Mexican platforms joined together in order to strengthen the fashion industry and be able to create a memorable experience, which they did.

In this edition of MBFWMX 23 designers (20 Mexicans and 3 Latin-Americans) presented their spring-summer 2016 collections at Campo Marte in Mexico City. The designers names were: Alejandro Carlín, Alexia Ulibarri, Alfredo Martínez, from Argentina Anabella Bergero, Benito Santos, Children of Our Town, Cihuah, Peruvian Claudia Jiménez, Julia y Renata, Kris Goyri, Lorena Saravia, Lydia Lavín, Macario Jiménez, Malafacha, the three winners from the last season of México Diseña by Elle, Pineda Covalín, Sandra Weil, Simple by Trista, Vero Díaz, Yakampot, and Zingara.

I liked a lot of collections, but to make the story short, my favourite one was “Augusta” from Alexia Ulibarri. I loved everything about it, the inspiration she took, the details of every single garment, styling, etc. Way to go Ale!!

Like its name implies, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week has the German brand of cars Mercedes-Benz as official and principal sponsor. The event also has the support of several well known brands such as Heineken, Vitaminwater, Uber, Tous, E!, and many more.

Another special feature about this season was the 4th edition of “Compra Moda Nacional” Hall (Buy Mexican Fashion), where a group of designers exhibit and sell their products. All of them are incredible btw.

Here I am sharing my look for the first day of MBFWMX, hope you like it! Do not forget to follow me in social media @soficavazos and Entre Bordados y Tacones to watch more 😉
